Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has pledged to consolidate efforts at transforming Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, into a world-class institution before the end of his tenure. The governor, an alumnus and former lecturer at the institution, said his administration had already taken the university out of what he described as an “intensive care unit” through strategic interventions, including an increase in subvention and a reconstitution of its governing council and management team. He assured that ongoing reforms would further stabilize and reposition the institution for global competitiveness.

Oyebanji made the remarks in Ado Ekiti on Thursday when the EKSU Alumni Association presented him with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms ahead of the June 2026 governorship election. The gesture, he said, was a demonstration of rare love and confidence in his leadership. He commended members of the association, particularly the EKSU Alumni Solidarity Group for BAO, for mobilizing resources to purchase the forms on his behalf, promising to justify their trust through inclusive governance, economic development, and policies that promote educational advancement.

“This is a wake-up call to me and to other politicians that people are watching us,” the governor said. “
