Benson Idahosa University (BIU), Benin City, has marked another milestone in its academic journey with the graduation of 1,084 students at its 20th convocation ceremony. The event, held at the university’s main auditorium, was attended by top dignitaries, academic leaders, parents, and students, who gathered to celebrate the achievements of the graduating class.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sam Guobadia, the 2025 convocation showcased the institution’s steady commitment to academic excellence and character development. He revealed that out of the total number of graduates, 107 students earned First-Class Honours across various disciplines, while several others bagged Second-Class Upper and Lower divisions, with a few graduating with Third-Class degrees.
Prof. Guobadia described the First-Class graduates as a testament to the university’s high academic standards and the resilience of students who pursued excellence despite the challenges of Nigeria’s education sector. He noted that BIU’s vision remains centered on producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also equipped with entrepreneurial skills and moral integrity.
The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the institution’s achievements in research, innovation, and community service, stressing that the university continues to build partnerships with global institutions to strengthen academic exchange and collaboration. He urged the graduating students to be ambassadors of integrity and innovation as they step into the wider world.
Speaking further, the university commended parents and guardians for their unwavering support, acknowledging that the sacrifices of families play a crucial role in the success stories celebrated at the convocation.
