Thousands of mourners on Saturday thronged Kano to attend the funeral prayer of a prominent district head who passed away after a brief illness. The solemn event, held at a central mosque in the city, drew traditional rulers, government officials, religious leaders, and residents from different walks of life, underscoring the influence and respect the deceased commanded during his lifetime.
The late district head, whose name had become synonymous with service and leadership in his community, was described as a man of integrity, humility, and commitment to the welfare of his people. His death was received with deep grief across the state, with tributes pouring in from individuals and institutions that benefited from his guidance and contributions.
The funeral prayer, led by notable Islamic clerics, was conducted according to Islamic rites and was marked by solemn recitations, heartfelt prayers, and an overwhelming display of solidarity from the people of Kano. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, alongside members of the Kano Emirate Council, attended the ceremony to pay their last respects. He called on younger leaders to emulate the values of service, discipline, and compassion that defined the deceased’s reign.
Similarly, messages of condolence were delivered on behalf of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, who extolled the late district head’s loyalty to the emirate and his steadfastness in upholding cultural values. The Emir urged the family to take solace in the fact that their patriarch lived a life of impact and left behind a legacy of honor.

The remains of the district head were later interred at the family cemetery amid tears and prayers.
