The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) on Monday condemned the abduction of a young lawyer, Onyesom Peace Udoka, and her sister, who were reportedly kidnapped along the Lokoja–Okene highway in Kogi State while returning from the recent Call to Bar ceremony in Abuja.NBA President Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, said in a statement that the incident was “unacceptable and utterly condemnable,” noting that it underscored growing concerns over insecurity on Nigeria’s highways.
Udoka had just been formally inducted into the legal profession before the abduction.The association urged the Federal Government and security agencies to act swiftly to secure the release of the victims and others held in captivity. It stressed that the protection of lives and property is the primary responsibility of government and called for stronger measures to restore confidence in road travel.
