Founder of the Citadel Global Community Church and former presidential aspirant, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has disclosed that he is currently under immense pressure from political associates and supporters to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Bakare, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the revelation while addressing journalists in Lagos on Saturday.

According to the cleric, several political figures and party stakeholders have approached him in recent weeks, urging him to align with the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections. He, however, noted that while he appreciates their confidence in his leadership and vision for Nigeria, he is yet to make a final decision on whether to join the party or pursue a different political course.

Bakare explained that the calls for him to join the ADC stem from what many perceive as his principled stance on governance, accountability, and national rebirth. He said many Nigerians are increasingly seeking credible alternatives to the dominant political parties, which have, according to him, failed to deliver on their promises to the people.

“I am under serious pressure to join the African Democratic Congress, but I am still consulting,” Bakare said. “Nigeria needs men and women of integrity who can rebuild trust in leadership, not those driven by personal ambition. The next election should not be about party names but about competence, vision, and moral strength.”

He also used the opportunity to reiterate his commitment to nation-building and his long-standing advocacy for a restructured and prosperous Nigeria. Bakare emphasized that his political engagement has always been rooted in service to humanity, not the pursuit of power or position.

The former APC chieftain further criticized the current state of the nation, lamenting rising insecurity, economic hardship, and what he described as “a moral decay in public leadership.” He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and to take active roles in ensuring that credible leaders emerge in future elections.

Political observers believe that Bakare’s possible move to the ADC could significantly boost the party’s national profile ahead of 2027. However, the cleric maintained that any future political decision he makes will be guided by divine direction and his vision for a just and equitable Nigeria.
