Bath, Somerset — The Michelin Guide has named Bath, one of the United Kingdom’s most architecturally celebrated cities, among the top 10 global culinary destinations for 2025. The announcement places the Georgian city alongside international heavyweights such as Bangkok, Austin, and Koh Samui, highlighting its growing reputation as a gastronomic hub.
Bath, located in Somerset, earned its place on the prestigious list with 13 entries in the Michelin Guide, including the Olive Tree—its only Michelin-starred restaurant. The Olive Tree, housed within The Queensberry Hotel, is praised for its refined, creative dishes that balance simplicity with depth. The city also boasts two Bib Gourmand restaurants, recognized for offering exceptional cuisine at accessible prices.
Among the standout venues are Oak, a vegetarian restaurant known for its seasonal produce and inventive plates; Robun, a Japanese eatery offering modern interpretations of traditional dishes; and the Beckford Bottle Shop, a wine bar and deli tucked near the iconic Georgian Circus.
The Michelin Guide’s recognition coincides with Bath’s preparations to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth. The celebrated author lived in Bath from 1801 to 1806, and the city will host a series of cultural events, literary tours, and exhibitions in her honor throughout the coming year.

Local officials and tourism leaders have welcomed the accolade, noting its potential to boost international interest in Bath’s culinary and cultural offerings. “This recognition affirms Bath’s unique blend of heritage and innovation,” said a spokesperson for Visit Bath. “Our chefs, producers, and restaurateurs continue to push boundaries while honoring the city’s rich history.”
Bath’s culinary rise reflects broader trends in UK dining, where regional cities are increasingly gaining global attention for their food scenes. The Michelin Guide’s expanded focus on destination dining underscores the importance of cultural context, sustainability, and local identity in shaping modern gastronomy.
Visitors to Bath can expect not only world-class dining but also immersive experiences in one of Britain’s most picturesque cities, known for its Roman baths, honey-colored stone architecture, and vibrant arts scene.
