LAGOS, Nigeria — The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) has elected Mrs. Ezeoma Ezeibe as its new president, marking only the third time a woman has held the position in the organization’s 63-year history.

Ezeibe, an accomplished insurance lawyer and broker, will be officially sworn in on October 24, 2025, in Lagos. She previously served as Vice President and Deputy President of the Council and brings decades of experience in insurance law, corporate governance, and industry advocacy.

“Her rich knowledge of insurance law, integrity, and solid social capital will contribute to further solidifying the Council’s position at the forefront of Nigerian professions,” the NCRIB said in a statement.

Born into royalty, Ezeibe began her education in Abia and Imo States before earning her law degree from the former Imo State University, now Abia State University. She was called to the Nigerian Bar 38 years ago and later earned a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Lagos.

Her career began at Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation during her National Youth Service, where she worked under the mentorship of Professor Joe Irukwu, SAN. She later held senior legal roles at Liberty Assurance and Industrial & General Insurance, before co-founding Crystal Trust Insurance Brokers Limited, where she currently serves as Managing Director/CEO.

Ezeibe holds multiple professional qualifications, including fellowships from the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria and the Council of Registered Insurance Brokers. She has delivered over 40 pro bono lectures across industry platforms and played a key role in shaping the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act, 2025.

Her influence extends beyond Nigeria. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the African Insurance Brokers’ Association — the first woman to hold the position — and was instrumental in founding the Africa Insurance Women Association.

Ezeibe’s election is seen as a milestone for gender representation in Nigeria’s insurance sector, and she is expected to champion reforms that strengthen professional standards, regulatory compliance, and industry innovation.
