MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (FN) — Police in Borno State have arrested a 20-year-old woman accused of stabbing a five-month pregnant victim during a violent attack in Maiduguri, the state capital.
The incident occurred on Monday, October 20, in the Njentilo area of Maiduguri. Authorities say the suspect entered the victim’s residence without permission and launched a knife attack.
The pregnant woman sustained multiple stab wounds to her stomach, chest, back, and face. She was rushed to Umaru Shehu Ultra Modern Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
Police recovered the weapon used in the attack and confirmed that the suspect is in custody. The case is being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department for culpable homicide and grievous bodily harm.

The victim’s condition is reported to be stable, and medical personnel are monitoring both her and the unborn child closely. Hospital officials have not released further details.
The suspect, identified as Halima Ali Maina, is a resident of the Polo area of Maiduguri. She is expected to face formal charges once the investigation concludes.
