LAGOS, Nigeria (FN) — Preparations for GOtv Boxing Night 34: Jam Festival are officially underway following the signing of bout contracts by top Nigerian boxers, with government officials and industry stakeholders voicing strong support for the year-ending sports and entertainment showcase.
The signing ceremony, held Wednesday in Lagos, confirmed the participation of several elite fighters in five bouts, including a World Boxing Federation light heavyweight title fight and a national super bantamweight title contest. Among those who signed were Tobiloba “Smiling Assassin” Ijomoni, Sadiq “Happy Boy” Adeleke, Durotimi “Tiny” Agboola, Ezekiel “Touch” Seun, Faruk Taofeek, and Segun “Odi” Gbobaniyi.
Bamidele Johnson, Chief Operating Officer of Flykite Productions, organizers of GOtv Boxing Night, said the contract signing reflects the event’s commitment to professionalism and transparency. “The signing exercise is a crucial part of ensuring that both boxers and fans get a transparent, well-organized event,” Johnson said. “We are maintaining the same standards that have made GOtv Boxing Night the country’s most consistent boxing platform.”

The upcoming edition, themed “Jam Festival,” will blend competitive boxing with music and comedy, a format that has helped broaden the sport’s appeal across Nigeria.
Government officials also praised the initiative, describing it as a model for sports development and youth engagement. A representative from the Lagos State Sports Commission, speaking at the event, said, “GOtv Boxing Night continues to be a shining example of how private-sector investment can elevate local talent and create meaningful opportunities for our youth. We are proud to support this platform.”
The Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC) echoed that sentiment, with a spokesperson noting, “This event has consistently delivered quality bouts and helped shape the careers of many Nigerian boxers. We commend the organizers for their dedication to the sport.”
Fans and industry insiders also expressed excitement about the December 26 event, which will be held at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos. “GOtv Boxing Night is more than just a fight night — it’s a celebration of Nigerian talent,” said sports analyst Tunde Aluko. “The Jam Festival format adds a cultural richness that makes it truly special.”
Since its debut in 2014, GOtv Boxing Night has held 33 editions and produced some of Nigeria’s leading professional boxers. The bouts are broadcast live on SuperSport across Africa, and the upcoming edition is expected to close out the year with high-energy competition and entertainment.
