LAGOS, Nigeria (FN) — Nigerian actress Regina Daniels has accused her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, of ordering the arrest of two of her siblings amid an ongoing marital dispute — an allegation that has drawn wide attention on social media but remains unverified by law enforcement.

In a series of Instagram Story posts over the weekend, Daniels claimed her “big brother and big sister” had been arrested and that her “baby sister might be arrested soon” unless she returned to her husband and entered a rehabilitation program.

“My big brother and big sister have been arrested. My baby sister might be arrested soon as well, until I return and, according to him, return to rehab,” she wrote.

Daniels also alleged that police assaulted her brother during the arrest, writing that he was “beaten up like a criminal.” She appealed to the public and authorities to intervene, saying she feared for her family’s safety.

Senator Nwoko, who represents Delta North in Nigeria’s Senate, has denied accusations of abuse or coercion. In previous statements reported by Telegraph Nigeria, he said Daniels has been struggling with substance abuse and needs professional rehabilitation — a claim she strongly disputes.

“I have done everything possible to help Regina overcome her addiction, but she continues to resist treatment,” Nwoko said in a statement cited by local media.

Major Nigerian outlets have published stories based on Daniels’ allegations and social media activity.

Daniels’ brother reportedly posted on his own account that he was “currently at Ogombo Police Station” in Lagos, lending partial support to her claims of police involvement.

However, as of Tuesday, the Nigerian Police Force has not issued any public statement confirming that the arrests took place on Nwoko’s orders, nor have court documents or official filings verified the allegations. The reasons for any reported detentions remain unclear.

While the arrests described by Daniels appear partly corroborated by social media posts, there is no independent evidence linking Nwoko directly to any police action. The allegations are therefore plausible but unverified.

Journalists and legal observers say the case underscores a broader issue in Nigeria — the use of social media to amplify domestic disputes that cross into political or legal arenas, often before full verification.

Daniels, 25, is one of Nigeria’s most prominent Nollywood actresses. She married Nwoko, 64, a lawyer and businessman, in 2019. The couple have two children together. Their relationship has recently drawn scrutiny following reports of marital conflict and accusations exchanged publicly online.

If Daniels’ allegations are confirmed, they could raise serious concerns about misuse of influence and unlawful detention. If proven to be untrue, they could carry legal consequences for defamation or false accusation.
