ABUJA, Nigeria (FN) — Nigerian actress Regina Daniels said she plans to return to her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, citing concerns for her family’s safety and the detention of her brother.

Her brother, Samuel “Sammy West” Ojeogwu, was arrested on October 28 by officers of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command. Police said the arrest followed a formal petition accusing Ojeogwu and three others of criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying.

Authorities claimed Ojeogwu had been invited for questioning multiple times but failed to respond. He was arrested in Lagos, held at the Ogombo Police Division, and later transferred to Abuja, where he was arraigned and remanded in custody.

Daniels alleged that Nwoko orchestrated the arrest and claimed an arrest warrant had also been issued for her mother, Rita Daniels. She said her decision to return to Nwoko was made under duress, writing, “I give up. I will return if that’s the only way… Only then will my brother return.”

In a video posted online, Daniels appeared visibly distressed, saying she had endured public mockery while dealing with private turmoil. “Nobody flaunts their sadness because of this very reason — mockery,” she said tearfully.

She also accused the Nigerian police and judiciary of complicity, alleging that justice had been compromised. “Shame on you all! It’s obvious the highest bidder always wins,” she wrote in one of her posts.

The revelations sparked widespread reaction across social media, with hashtags like #JusticeForSammy and #ProtectReginaDaniels trending. Fans and public figures expressed concern over the allegations and called for an independent investigation.

Digital influencers and fellow actors voiced support. Actress Yvonne Jegede posted, “Sending you strength, Regina. No one deserves this.” Others urged authorities to ensure due process and transparency in the case.

Human rights advocates warned that the situation raises serious concerns about abuse of power and the use of state institutions for personal vendettas. Civil society groups called for legal safeguards to protect vulnerable individuals from coercion.

As of Friday, Senator Nwoko had not publicly responded to the allegations. Police maintain that the arrest followed due process and was based on a formal petition. The case continues to draw national attention.
