Nigerian comedian and content creator Oluwadolarz has shared a harrowing account of childhood abuse, revealing that he was assaulted repeatedly by a neighbor named Ramota when he was just six years old. In his words: “And to start with, first of all, Aunty Ramota it shall not be well with you. When I was 6, yes, I was 6, 5, 6 years old. Then I was living with my grandma, my mum was still in a nursing school then, so I was living with my grandma, so my grandma was like raising me and all that. So whenever I come back, Ramota is always at home. She’s only the one at home, like she’s always at home. And whenever I come back from school, Ramota would take me to the backyard of our house and do all sorts. From leaking to, it’s crazy.”

He recalled that the abuse continued for an entire year, leaving him too young to understand what was happening and with no one to confide in. The trauma, he explained, caused confusion and left lasting damage to his sexual life and emotional well-being: “I’m saying it because I’m beginning to realize that it’s something that could have messed up my life. I think it actually did mess up my life. Because it messed up my sex life, messed up a lot of things about me that I can’t even say here. The damage that that stuff causes or brings to one’s life is unforgettable. It’s almost unsolvable. But as for you, Ramota, it won’t be better for you.”

Oluwadolarz said his motivation for speaking out was to encourage parents to pay closer attention to their children, urging them to create safe spaces for boys as well as girls: “Please parents, watch your kids. That’s the essence of this video because I’m beginning to realise that it happens to a lot of male children.”

His testimony has triggered widespread responses across social media. Many praised his courage, noting that male survivors of abuse are often overlooked or silenced. Supporters expressed solidarity, sharing their own experiences and calling for greater awareness of abuse against boys. Others highlighted the importance of his message to parents, stressing that vigilance and open communication are critical to protecting children. Advocacy groups have pointed out that his story reflects a broader global issue: abuse is not confined by geography, culture, or gender, and silence only perpetuates harm.

At the same time, the controversy surrounding singer Simi has intensified. Her past tweets and recent comments about sexual violence have drawn criticism, with some accusing her of insensitivity toward survivors. Defenders argue that her outspoken stance reflects the urgency of confronting abuse, even if her tone has sparked backlash.

Oluwadolarz’s story has resonated far beyond Nigeria, sparking international conversations about childhood trauma, survivor voices, and the responsibility of public figures in shaping discourse. His testimony underscores the need for empathy, accountability, and systemic change, while the debate around Simi highlights the delicate balance between free expression and sensitivity in public dialogue.
