The family of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has voiced concerns over the laboratories selected to conduct a DNA test involving his son, Liam. Their lawyer, Oladayo Ogungbe, said the family wants assurances that the facilities chosen are capable of delivering credible results.

In a statement released Tuesday, Ogungbe confirmed that a Lagos court had ordered the test on February 24, 2026, to be carried out in three laboratories jointly agreed upon by the parties and the court. The decision was meant to ensure transparency and eliminate doubts about the process.

The laboratories listed include DNA Diagnostics Centre in Fairfield, Ohio, nominated by the applicant; Alpha Biolabs in Warrington, United Kingdom, nominated by the respondent; and Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited in London, selected by the court through the Social Welfare Officer. The family’s lawyer, however, questioned whether all the facilities could meet the standards required for such a sensitive case.

Public reaction has been mixed. While some Nigerians welcomed the court’s involvement in selecting international laboratories, others expressed skepticism about the process, fearing that any perceived shortcomings could fuel further controversy. On social media, supporters of Mohbad’s family urged that the test be conducted under strict oversight to protect the integrity of the results.

Medical experts have noted that DNA testing requires advanced technology and rigorous procedures to avoid errors. They warned that any lapse in quality control could undermine confidence in the findings and prolong disputes. Calls have grown for independent monitoring of the process to reassure the public and prevent speculation.

For Mohbad’s family, the issue goes beyond science. The lawyer’s statement reflects a broader demand for accountability and fairness in a case that has already captured national attention. As the court‑ordered tests move forward, the credibility of the laboratories involved will play a decisive role in shaping public trust and bringing clarity to a matter that continues to stir emotions across Nigeria.
