Akwa Ibom Police Arrest Suspected Cultist with Human Skull

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended a 40-year-old suspected cultist and vandal, Pius Pius, in Oku Abak, Abak Local Government Area of the state. The arrest was made on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at approximately 6:55 PM, following credible intelligence.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, Pius was arrested at No. 80 School Road, Oku Abak, and during interrogation, he confessed to being a member of the Iceland Confraternity, a group reportedly involved in the destruction of critical public infrastructure. A search of his room led to the recovery of a human skull, one transformer step-down insulator, one circuit breaker, one electric meter, and fuses.

The suspect allegedly specializes in vandalizing feeder transformers and public electric cables within Abak Local Government Area and its environs. The police command stated that investigation into the matter is ongoing, and further developments will be communicated as they unfold.

This arrest highlights the police command’s efforts to tackle cultism and vandalism in the state. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command urges anyone with information that could aid in the investigation to come forward.
