(VIDEO) Reform UK plans to use a £36 million donation from British billionaire Ben Delo to prepare for a future general election, the party’s deputy leader, Richard Tice, said.
Tice described the financial backing as a major boost for the right-wing populist party, saying Reform UK was “delighted” by Delo’s support. He made the comments in an interview with Kamali Melbourne and Leah Boleto.
The donation comes as Reform UK seeks to strengthen its political organization and expand its national presence following its breakthrough in the 2024 U.K. general election. The party won five seats in Parliament, marking its first significant representation at Westminster and intensifying competition on the British right.
Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, has since sought to build on its 2024 performance and position itself as a major force in British politics ahead of the next general election, which must be held by 2029 under current parliamentary rules.
Large political donations have long played an important role in British election campaigns, while questions over campaign finance, political influence and the role of wealthy donors have remained subjects of public debate. The scale of Delo’s contribution is therefore likely to draw scrutiny as Reform UK prepares for its next electoral challenge.
