President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to three Nigerian students who emerged as world champions at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom. Nafisa Abdullahi Aminu, 17, Rukayya Muhammad Fema, 15, and Hadiza Kashim Kalli, students of Nigerian Tulip International College in Yobe State, represented Nigeria at the international competition, outperforming thousands of contestants from 69 countries.
Nafisa was named Overall Best in English Language Skills, while Rukayya emerged Overall Best in Debate. Hadiza clinched the Outstanding Talent Award, earning a gold medal for her exceptional performance. According to President Tinubu, these achievements are a testament to the quality and potential of Nigeria’s education system, nurturing some of the world’s brightest minds.
The President commended the institutions of learning for their role in nurturing the students’ talents and reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing in the education sector. He highlighted the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as a key initiative aimed at removing financial barriers for indigent students. Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, President of the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria and former Minister of Communications, has urged the Federal Government to honour the students with national recognition and material rewards, likening their achievement to those of the Super Falcons and D’Tigress.
The students’ victory has sparked widespread celebrations, with many Nigerians calling for national recognition and rewards. A development advocate, Kashim Tumsah, has announced a cash reward of N1.5 million to the students, with each receiving N500,000 and a brand new laptop. The Yobe State Government, under Governor Mai Mala Buni, has also announced plans to host a grand reception in honour of the students’ achievement.
President Tinubu encouraged Nafisa, Rukayya, and Hadiza to remain steadfast in their studies, wishing them continued success. Their achievement serves as a powerful reminder of the potential of Nigerian youth and the importance of investing in education. As the nation celebrates their victory, it is expected that their success will inspire more students to pursue excellence in language and communication skills.
