LONDON — Actress Millie Bobby Brown, best known for her breakout role as Eleven in Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things, has revealed that she and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, have adopted a baby girl. The 21-year-old star shared the news in a heartfelt Instagram post on Thursday, saying the couple is “beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy.”
The post, accompanied by a family photo, included the caption, “This summer we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. And then there were 3.” The announcement marks the couple’s first child together, less than a year after their wedding. Brown and Bongiovi, 23, tied the knot in 2024. Bongiovi is the son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi.
The adoption fulfills a long-held dream for Brown, who has spoken openly about her desire to become a mother at a young age. Earlier this year, she appeared on the Smartless podcast and explained that she had always envisioned parenthood as an important part of her life. “My mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19. Since I was a baby, I told my mom I wanted to be a mom, just like the way she was to me,” Brown said at the time.
Brown rose to international fame in 2016 at age 12, when Stranger Things became a global sensation. Beyond acting, she has launched her own beauty line, authored a novel, and become a prominent advocate for causes ranging from gender equality to youth empowerment. Bongiovi, meanwhile, has pursued modeling and acting, and the couple’s relationship has been closely followed since they began dating in 2021.
With the adoption, Brown and Bongiovi are entering a new chapter away from the spotlight. While fans have flooded their announcement with congratulations, the couple has emphasized their desire to protect their daughter’s privacy as they settle into family life.
