In a compelling appeal to law enforcement personnel, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Aliyu Shaba has urged officers under his command in Delta State to abandon corrupt practices and dedicate themselves to ethical policing. The call, which emphasized integrity and public trust, underscores ACP Shaba’s broader commitment to transforming policing culture across the region.

ACP Shaba’s plea comes on the heels of his well-deserved recognition by the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN). The senior lawyers of Warri, Udu, and Effurun branches presented him with a ₦1 million educational scholarship, in recognition of his unwavering commitment to crime-fighting and the promotion of probity within the police force . The award not only affirmed his personal achievements but also acknowledged the crucial role of upholding ethical standards in restoring community confidence in law enforcement.

Earlier, in April 2024, ACP Shaba earned dual national accolades—being named both “DPO of the Year” and “Police Officer of the Year”—at the inaugural Nigerian Police Awards and Commendations Ceremony in Abuja . His success underscores a pattern of merit-based recognition, further cementing his reputation as a diligent and just officer. The Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, celebrated his achievements, affirming that “hard work is always rewarding” and urging other officers to emulate his dedication .

ACP Shaba’s message stands as a critical rallying point for fellow officers: corruption is not merely a moral failing but a corrosive force that erodes public trust and undermines effective policing. BOSAN’s statement during his award presentation was equally impactful: “If there is nobody ready to receive bribe, there will be nobody to give it.” This sentiment highlights the importance of principled conduct within the force .

As ACP Shaba continues to lead by example, his story resounds as a case study in how recognition, accountability, and moral leadership can shift institutional culture. By urging police officers to “always do what’s right,” and demonstrating tangible rewards for integrity, he is actively driving a transformation that invites broader reform within the Nigerian Police Force.
