The Dangote Group has rolled out 1,000 fuel distribution trucks in a major push to ease product delivery across the country, a move expected to strengthen the downstream sector and reduce supply bottlenecks. The deployment comes as the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) rallies its members to key into the initiative and expand fuel access nationwide.
According to the company, the newly deployed trucks are part of a wider logistics strategy to ensure efficient distribution from the Dangote Refinery, which recently commenced large-scale operations. By leveraging its own fleet, the group aims to cut delays associated with third-party transporters, stabilize supply chains, and ensure products reach filling stations more reliably.
Industry stakeholders have welcomed the development, describing it as a potential game-changer in tackling persistent distribution challenges. For years, marketers have complained about shortages in haulage facilities, high costs of transportation, and bottlenecks at depots. With Dangote’s intervention, experts say supply efficiency could improve significantly, especially in remote and underserved regions.
In a related development, IPMAN leadership has urged its members to prepare for full collaboration with the Dangote Group, stressing that the refinery’s success depends on seamless last-mile delivery. The association called on marketers to align their operations with the new logistics framework, promising to mobilise resources to ensure uninterrupted nationwide supply.
IPMAN President Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi emphasized that marketers must play their part in bridging supply gaps. He said the partnership with Dangote’s distribution arm would not only boost product availability but also help stabilize pump prices by reducing unnecessary middlemen costs.
The deployment of 1,000 trucks is also expected to create employment opportunities for drivers, mechanics, and other allied services in the oil and gas value chain. Analysts note that this development could have broader economic impact, stimulating local businesses while enhancing the capacity of Nigeria’s distribution infrastructure.
With fuel supply remaining a sensitive issue across the country, the coordinated effort between Dangote and IPMAN is being seen as a decisive step towards ending recurring scarcity and ensuring more predictable access for consumers.
