In their goodwill messages, they emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in addressing the country’s challenges and building on its achievements since independence in 1960.
The Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, in separate statements, urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the democratic process despite economic difficulties, insecurity, and political tensions. They highlighted that the nation’s resilience over the years was proof of its capacity to overcome adversity and emerge stronger. According to them, the legislature remains committed to enacting reforms that will drive growth, stability, and inclusiveness.
Similarly, state governors across the federation used the occasion to call for unity among citizens, stressing that Nigeria’s diversity should be a source of strength rather than division. They appealed for patience and cooperation as governments at all levels continue to implement policies aimed at reducing poverty, improving security, and fostering development.
