ABUJA, Nigeria (AP), Nigerian social media activist VeryDarkMan has accused relationship therapist Blessing CEO of fabricating her cancer diagnosis to solicit funds, demanding a refund of money he says she collected under false pretenses.

Blessing CEO, whose real name is Blessing Okoro, announced last month that she was battling stage 4 breast cancer and appealed for financial assistance. But critics, including Nollywood actress Sarah Martins, have questioned the authenticity of her medical documents, with some alleging inconsistencies in test results circulated online.

In a viral video, VeryDarkMan told Blessing CEO: “My money is in your account; when I am ready, you’ll refund it.” He also challenged her to provide verifiable medical evidence, warning that exploiting public sympathy for financial gain would not go unpunished.

Blessing CEO later admitted she may have exaggerated details about the stage of her illness but maintained she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has not responded directly to refund demands.

The controversy has sparked outrage across Nigeria’s online community, raising broader concerns about accountability in influencer-led fundraising campaigns.
