Gunmen attacked the Imafon community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday, abducting a farm manager identified as Afolabi Ajayi. Witnesses said the assailants struck around 10:30 a.m. as Ajayi stepped out of his vehicle to enter a poultry farm, seizing him before fleeing the area.
The incident has heightened concerns about insecurity in rural parts of Ondo State, where farmers and agricultural workers have increasingly become targets of kidnappers. Local residents expressed fear over the attack, urging authorities to strengthen patrols and improve safety measures in farming communities.
State officials have yet to release details on rescue efforts, but security agencies are reported to be searching for the victim and tracking the attackers. The abduction underscores the growing challenge of protecting agricultural zones in Nigeria, where criminal groups exploit isolated areas to carry out kidnappings for ransom.
