Arsenal Aim to Extend Lead Over Man City in EPL Title Race

LONDON (FN) Arsenal is aiming to keep the pressure on Manchester City in the Premier League title race, holding a three‑point lead but facing the reality that Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand and fixtures that could swing momentum back their way.

Mikel Arteta’s team sit top with 73 points from 34 matches, just ahead of City on 70 points from 33. Arsenal host Fulham on May 2, while City travel to Everton on May 4 and then face Brentford on May 9, meaning Guardiola’s side could reclaim first place before Arsenal play again.

The margins are razor thin. Arsenal’s goal difference stands at +38 compared to City’s +37, while City have scored 66 goals to Arsenal’s 64. With both teams capable of winning out, the title could be decided by goal difference, goals scored, or head‑to‑head record — all currently tilted slightly toward City, who took four points from their two meetings with Arsenal this season.

Arsenal must also balance their Champions League semi‑final against Atlético Madrid on May 5, while City prepare for an FA Cup final against Chelsea on May 16. Fixture congestion looms large for both sides, but City’s squad depth has long been considered an advantage in the run‑in.

If both teams win all their remaining matches, they would finish level on points, leaving the title to be decided by fine margins. For now, Arsenal remain in control, but City’s game in hand and superior head‑to‑head record mean the race is far from settled.
