LAGOS, Nigeria — Nollywood actress Sharon Ooja has given birth to a baby boy, her first child with husband Ugo Nwoke. The news, confirmed Wednesday, has sparked celebrations among fans and colleagues, marking a joyful milestone in her personal life.
Ooja, best known for her breakout role as Shalewa in the hit series Skinny Girl in Transit, has become one of Nollywood’s most recognizable faces. She has starred in films such as Oloture, Who’s the Boss, and Glamour Girls, earning a reputation as one of the leading actresses of her generation.
The actress married Ugo Nwoke in 2024 in a private ceremony attended by close friends and Nollywood stars. Their union was celebrated widely, though Ooja has largely kept her marriage away from the public eye, occasionally sharing glimpses of her happiness on social media.
Ugochukwu Emmanuel Nwoke, Sharon’s husband, is a Nigerian entrepreneur and architect with strong ties to the automotive industry. He is reported to have founded and led ventures including Avotronics Powertrain Inc., a U.S.-based automotive firm. Born in Imo State into a devout Christian family, Nwoke studied Architecture at London Metropolitan University before building his career abroad.
The couple met through Sharon’s sister and dated for about two and a half months before getting engaged. They held a civil wedding in March 2024 and a traditional ceremony in June 2024, attended by Nollywood stars including Funke Akindele, Nancy Isime, and Ini Dima-Okojie. Sharon has described their love story as “short of a miracle,” crediting divine guidance for bringing them together.
