AWKA — Youths of Agulu community in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State have issued a stern warning to politicians visiting their town, urging them to desist from making derogatory remarks about their kinsman and former governor of the state, Mr. Peter Obi.

In a statement signed by their Chairman, Maduagwu Eric-Kenny, and Secretary, Chamberlain Egoh, on Wednesday, the youths condemned what they described as “unfounded and desperate attacks” on Obi by some politicians seeking electoral support. They noted that such behaviour was provocative, especially coming from individuals who had previously benefitted from Obi’s generosity and political goodwill.

“Peter Obi’s name commands respect not only in Nigerian politics but also on the global stage. We will never allow anyone, regardless of position or influence, to diminish his image,” the statement read. The group insisted that Obi remains a symbol of identity and pride for the people of Agulu and the wider Igbo nation.

The youths further warned that any politician visiting Agulu for campaigns or other engagements must refrain from disparaging Obi. They stressed that future attempts to malign him in their community would be met with “organised, peaceful, but resolute resistance,” adding that they were prepared to defend his legacy and image at all times.

They concluded by emphasising that just as other communities protect and honour their political leaders, Agulu people would continue to cherish Obi as a respected statesman whose influence and integrity extend far beyond Anambra State and Nigeria.
