Veteran Nigerian rapper, Jude Abaga, popularly known as M.I Abaga, has revealed how his wife, Eniola Mafe, has been instrumental to his growth both personally and professionally. Speaking on The Podcast Network’s “Outside The Box,” the 43-year-old hip-hop pioneer described her as his first investor, biggest supporter, and toughest critic.

M.I disclosed that before his creative agency, TASCK, attracted any outside funding, his wife had already backed the project with a personal cheque. “The very first cheque that came in was from her. She has been the most supportive person in my life,” he said. Beyond financial support, he added that Eniola regularly reviews his music, designs, and performances, often writing lengthy feedback to sharpen his craft.

Reflecting on marriage, the rapper said tying the knot in September 2022 was a turning point that rescued him from loneliness and gave him balance. “Getting married has been a huge shift for me. For the first time, I don’t feel like I’m carrying everything alone,” he admitted, noting that Eniola still finds time to attend his events and business meetings despite her own demanding career.

M.I also spoke about his music journey, recalling that one of his biggest hits, African Rapper No.1, was among the hardest songs he ever wrote despite its simple sound. On politics, he admitted he once supported the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015 out of hope for change, but later realised the complexities of governance. In the 2023 elections, he said he voted differently, backing Labour Party’s Peter Obi for president, the PDP for Senate, and Banky W for the House of Representatives.

Looking ahead, the rapper explained that his current focus is on advocacy and legacy through TASCK and nonprofit work aimed at strengthening the creative industry. “The war continues. Our job is to leave more than we take,” he concluded, stressing that marriage and partnership have become the foundation of his renewed sense of purpose.
