Prince Harry has reunited with his father, King Charles III, in what is believed to be their first face-to-face meeting in over a year. The Duke of Sussex was seen arriving at Clarence House in London on Wednesday, shortly after the monarch returned from Scotland. The highly anticipated encounter has stirred fresh speculation of a possible reconciliation within the royal family.

The meeting comes against the backdrop of years of strained relations between father and son. Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to California, Harry has had limited contact with King Charles. Their last known meeting was in early 2024, following the king’s cancer diagnosis. However, tensions have persisted due to Harry’s lawsuits in the UK, as well as his outspoken criticism of the monarchy in interviews and his memoir.

Despite the rift, Harry has expressed hope for mending ties. Speaking earlier this year, he admitted the relationship with his father had been distant but stressed his desire for reconciliation, particularly as he does “not know how much longer” the king has. His visit to London this week has also seen him pay respects at the grave of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and attend several charity events.

In recent months, quiet signs of a thaw emerged when aides representing both sides were spotted meeting privately in London. Wednesday’s reunion now signals what could be the start of more open dialogue, though neither Clarence House nor Harry’s team has released an official statement.

The prince’s return marks the fourth time he has visited the UK since last year without meeting his father. The latest encounter, however, is being closely watched by both the British press and royal watchers worldwide, as many hope it could pave the way for healing one of the monarchy’s most public family divides.
