Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, has called for urgent global action to hold Israel accountable for what he described as violations of international law and dangerous acts of aggression. His remarks follow last week’s Israeli strike in Doha that killed several Hamas figures and a Qatari security officer, sparking widespread outrage across the Arab and Islamic world.

Speaking at a joint gathering of Arab and Islamic foreign ministers in Doha, Sheikh Mohammed denounced the attack as an act of “state terrorism” and accused Israel of deliberately undermining peace efforts. He urged the international community to abandon “double standards” in addressing the crisis, insisting that Israel must face consequences for its actions against both Palestinians and regional states.

The Qatari leader stressed that the strike represented not only a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty but also a dangerous precedent that threatens global stability. He warned that failure to confront Israel’s actions would embolden further aggression, deepen the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, and derail ongoing efforts to secure a lasting ceasefire. “There can be no leniency in how the international community deals with such violations,” he said.

Arab and Islamic countries have rallied behind Qatar, with discussions now underway on coordinated measures to deter further Israeli attacks. Proposals include pursuing legal action through international courts, strengthening political pressure at the United Nations, and reviewing diplomatic ties with Israel. A draft resolution from the summit signaled that normalization of relations with Israel could be threatened if such attacks continue.

The airstrike in Doha, which Israel claimed was aimed at Hamas operatives, has reignited debate over international accountability and the credibility of global institutions in preventing escalation. Qatar, a key mediator in past ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Palestinian factions, described the assault as a betrayal of diplomatic efforts and a direct challenge to regional stability.

Regional analysts say Qatar’s strong stance reflects growing frustration among Arab nations at what they see as unchecked Israeli aggression and the inability of international powers to enforce accountability. They warn that continued impunity could trigger broader instability across the Middle East, particularly as tensions in Gaza and the West Bank remain unresolved.

As Qatar mobilizes legal and diplomatic channels, Sheikh Mohammed reiterated that his country remains committed to peace and justice but will not tolerate further violations of its sovereignty. He called on world powers to act decisively, stressing that international silence in the face of such attacks undermines global security and the principles of international law.
