A northern advocacy group, the Arewa Development Forum (ADF), has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for what it described as tangible progress and renewed focus on infrastructure, agriculture, and education across Northern Nigeria. The group stated that despite the economic challenges currently facing the country, several developmental projects initiated by the Federal Government have begun to impact the region positively.

Speaking at a press briefing in Kaduna on Friday, the spokesperson of the group, Alhaji Musa Danjuma, noted that Northern Nigeria had long suffered neglect in terms of economic growth and infrastructural investment. However, he said Tinubu’s policies have begun reversing decades of imbalance through targeted initiatives in energy, road construction, security improvement, and youth empowerment.

According to Danjuma, the government’s ongoing efforts to stabilize the power sector and revive key agricultural programs are gradually transforming the productivity of rural communities in the North. He cited the ongoing rehabilitation of the Kaduna–Kano expressway, the renewed focus on the Mambilla Power Project, and support for dry-season farming as examples of the administration’s commitment to regional growth.

He further praised Tinubu’s administration for its renewed attention to insecurity, noting that the deployment of more military personnel and intelligence units has helped reduce incidents of banditry and terrorism in some northern states. Danjuma said the improved security situation has allowed farmers to return to their fields, boosting local food production and trade.

The group also lauded the Federal Government’s educational interventions, particularly in the areas of technical and vocational training. It emphasized that programs targeting youth skill development and digital literacy are equipping young northerners with tools to compete in the modern economy.

While acknowledging that economic hardship remains a major concern, the ADF urged citizens to remain patient and supportive of the reform agenda. It argued that the pain of adjustment would eventually give way to long-term development if the government continues to implement its policies with transparency and accountability.

The Arewa Development Forum concluded by calling on northern governors to complement the Federal Government’s efforts by prioritizing people-centered governance. The group stressed that sustainable progress in the region depends on collaboration between federal and state authorities to ensure that policies translate into real opportunities for the people.
