Twelve-year-old Nigerian actor Chibuchi Francis has won a bronze medal in the Acting category for ages 11–12 at the 2026 World Championships of Performing Arts held in Las Vegas, Nevada, marking another international achievement for Nigeria’s growing pool of young creative talent. The annual event, which ran from July 13 to July 21 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, brought together performers from more than 80 countries competing in acting, singing, dancing, modelling, instrumental performance and other artistic disciplines.
Often referred to as the “Entertainment Olympics,” the championship serves as a global platform for emerging performers to showcase their talents while promoting cultural exchange and artistic excellence. Chibuchi represented Team Nigeria under the leadership of Ambassador Lovethpatra White Ekufu, National Director of WCOPA Team Nigeria and founder of Street2Fame Nigeria Performing Arts Entertainment. His participation was sponsored by the organization as part of its initiative to provide gifted Nigerian youths with opportunities to compete on the international stage.
Reacting to the achievement, Ekufu described the bronze medal as proof that Nigerian children can compete successfully with their peers around the world when given the necessary support and training. She said the result demonstrated the country’s wealth of untapped talent and underscored the importance of investing in youth development through education, mentorship and exposure to global platforms.
Nigeria has increasingly gained international recognition in film, music and other creative industries, with young performers making notable contributions alongside established artists. Cultural experts say achievements such as Chibuchi’s not only celebrate individual excellence but also strengthen Nigeria’s reputation as a source of creative talent, while encouraging greater investment in arts education and youth development programs.
