The Federal Workers Forum (FWF) on Sunday kicked against alleged delay in the payment of the N35, 000.00 wage award meant to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal
FWF in a statement jointly signed by its national secretary, Comrade Itoro Obong, and publicity secretary, Comrade Razaq Yakubu Oseni demanded immediate payment of the wage award to the federal workers
According to the Forum, the said delay followed an alleged failure of the Accountant General of the Federation who they said “promised to pay immediately after April salary” just as the Minister of Finance reportedly “promised to pay up in 48 hours” and yet the workers are yet seen any balance of outstanding wage award.
Just imagine, payment of thirty five thousand naira (35k) wage award meant to cushion the horrible effects of subsidy removal is now a problem. An outstanding five months wage award since March 2024 payment is now a tug of war that our government will continue to promise and fail. This is not good enough.”
The Forum however said “from Monday 26 May, 2025, all federal workers in Abuja are to resume work at the Federal Ministry of Finance”, adding, “We will not entertain any promises again.”
