The Gombe State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has suspended four of its members for alleged gross misconduct, political hypocrisy, and acts aimed at destabilizing the party. The decision was made during a meeting of the State Executive Committee, where the leadership reaffirmed its commitment to party discipline and internal cohesion.
The suspended members include Mr. Aron Yakubu, Assistant Secretary; Usman Yahaya, Assistant Publicity Secretary; Lukaman Adamu Elkanem, Member of the Contact & Mobilization Committee; and Musa Muhammad Ali, Chairman of the Gombe Local Government SDP. According to the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Abdulkadir Kumo, the suspensions are necessary to preserve the integrity and unity of the party.
In a signed press release, Kumo warned the suspended individuals against parading themselves as party officials, stating that any such attempt would be seen as an affront to party authority and would carry further consequences. The party has also constituted a disciplinary committee to investigate the matter and submit its findings within a specified timeframe.
The disciplinary committee, chaired by Barr. Nuruddeen Bello, State Legal Adviser, includes prominent party members such as Dalhatu Bello Umar, Zonal Chairman, Gombe North; Ibrahim I. Jalo, Zonal Chairman, Gombe Central; Engr. M. Abdulkadir Kumo, State Publicity Secretary; and Muhammad Hassan, Acting State Secretary, who will serve as secretary.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Adamu, popularly known as Auwal SMS, has been appointed as the acting chairman of the Gombe Local Government chapter of the party. Kumo emphasized the party’s commitment to unity and vigilance, stating that no amount of conspiracy, internal sabotage, or external manipulation would derail the party’s progress.
The SDP has called on the general public to rely only on official communications from recognized party spokespeople and to be wary of disgruntled individuals who may seek to mislead them. The party’s leadership has reiterated its commitment to democracy, principles, and loyalty to the people, emphasizing that the SDP is not for sale, not for hijack, and not for compromise.
