A major political development has occurred in Ebonyi State with the defection of Chief Nnaemeka Ogbonna, the immediate past Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Ogbonna, a chieftain of the PDP in Ebonyi, cited his dissatisfaction with the leadership of the PDP in the state as the reason for his defection.

Ogbonna, who was flanked by his family members and other political associates, expressed his gratitude to the people of Ebonyi State for their support during his tenure as PDP Chairman. He stated that his decision to defect was not taken lightly and was necessitated by the current state of affairs within the PDP.

The former PDP Chairman expressed his excitement about joining the ADC, stating that he was impressed by the party’s ideologies and leadership. He believes that the ADC is better positioned to provide the much-needed leadership and development that the state has been yearning for.

Ogbonna’s defection is seen as a significant blow to the PDP in Ebonyi State, as he is a well-known figure in the state’s politics. His decision to join the ADC is expected to boost the party’s fortunes in the state and potentially attract more defectors from the PDP.

The development has generated mixed reactions from various stakeholders in the state’s politics, with some hailing Ogbonna’s decision as a bold move, while others have expressed disappointment. As the political landscape in Ebonyi State continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how Ogbonna’s defection will impact the fortunes of the PDP and the ADC in the state.
