A gruesome incident has rocked the Odigbo community in Ondo State, Nigeria, where a 26-year-old man, Daniel, allegedly beheaded his 15-year-old brother, Emmanuel, at the Origbara River. The siblings, sons of a respected police officer, were reportedly seen together in a playful mood before the incident. According to eyewitnesses, Daniel lured Emmanuel to the riverbank, where the horrific act took place.

The community was thrown into panic when a passerby raised an alarm after seeing Daniel trying to conceal the severed head in a bag. Roland Akinkunmi, a resident, recounted witnessing the aftermath: “I saw Daniel holding a human head. At first, I didn’t realize it was his brother’s head because I was confused.” Akinkunmi expressed shock, questioning how someone could commit such a heinous act against their own sibling.

The motive behind the killing remains unclear, with some speculating it might be linked to a deeper issue beyond a simple sibling quarrel. Akinkunmi noted that locals believe anyone involved in shedding human blood for ritual purposes would be exposed instantly. The community is still grappling with the tragedy, struggling to comprehend the circumstances surrounding the brutal fratricide.

The Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation, with Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal ordering the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further probe. Police Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade assured that no stone would be left unturned in the investigation.

The incident has sparked widespread shock and grief in the community, with many demanding justice and answers. The police command’s swift response aims to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic event and bring perpetrators to justice.
