Cristiano Ronaldo Wins First Saudi Pro League Title With Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo has won his first Saudi Pro League title with Al-Nassr, capping a relentless pursuit of silverware since joining the club in December 2022. The Portuguese star scored twice in a decisive 4-1 victory over Damac on Thursday, sealing Al-Nassr’s first league crown in seven years.

Ronaldo, 41, struck from a free kick in the 62nd minute and added a second in the 82nd, before leaving the pitch in tears to a standing ovation. Sadio Mané and Kingsley Coman also found the net for Al-Nassr, while Damac’s Morlaye Sylla scored from the penalty spot.

The win ensured Al-Nassr finished two points ahead of rivals Al-Hilal, who went unbeaten all season but fell short in the title race. It marks the club’s 11th Saudi Pro League championship and Ronaldo’s first major trophy in the kingdom.

The triumph adds another chapter to Ronaldo’s storied career. He has now won league titles in four countries: three in England’s Premier League with Manchester United, two in Spain’s La Liga with Real Madrid, two in Italy’s Serie A with Juventus, and now one in Saudi Arabia. His last league triumph came in 2020 with Juventus.

Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr was seen as a bold step into a growing football market, and critics questioned whether he could replicate past success. Thursday’s victory silenced those doubts, underscoring his enduring impact even in the twilight of his career. He finished the season with 28 league goals, reaffirming his status as one of the game’s most prolific scorers.

The title win comes just days before Ronaldo is set to represent Portugal in his record sixth World Cup, further extending a career that has spanned two decades at the highest level.
