President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left Abuja for Europe to begin a working vacation, according to his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. The trip, which commences today, September 4, is expected to last ten working days.

Onanuga confirmed that the president will divide his stay between France and the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria. The statement described the visit as part of the president’s 2025 annual leave, which will see him combine rest with official engagements.

Tinubu’s departure follows closely on the heels of a 12-day diplomatic mission to Japan and Brazil, with stopovers in Dubai and Los Angeles. In Japan, the president attended the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), where he met world leaders and advanced Nigeria’s development agenda.

During his stop in Brazil, Tinubu held bilateral talks with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, resulting in agreements in the areas of aviation, science and technology, agriculture, and foreign affairs. He returned to Nigeria on August 28 after the extensive tour.

Earlier this year, the president also spent 19 days in France and the United Kingdom on private visits. His latest trip underscores his reliance on Europe both as a diplomatic hub and a personal retreat destination, highlighting the president’s frequent foreign travels in his first year in office.
