ABUJA, Nigeria (FN) — Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has declared what she calls her “independence,” unveiling a new mansion amid reports of a bitter domestic dispute with her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
The 25-year-old star shared photos and videos of the luxury home on Instagram Sunday, writing, “In my house I am a Queen! I needed a roof over my head, so I got this for me and my family.”
The post followed a week of online uproar after a viral video showed Daniels crying outside her Abuja residence. “In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a Queen. I can’t stand the violence — it’s too much,” she said in the clip that has since amassed millions of views.

A family member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed tensions in the household but said relatives were urging calm. “Regina’s mother has been very worried about her. She only wants her daughter safe and happy,” the source said, referencing Rita Daniels, also a Nollywood actress.
Rita Daniels later posted a cryptic message on her Instagram story that read, “A mother’s heart breaks silently, but she will always stand by her child.”
Senator Nwoko, 63, has denied the allegations of domestic violence, calling them “baseless and damaging.” In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ameen Abubakar, the politician described the reports as “gross exaggerations fueled by social media sensationalism.”
“Senator Nwoko remains committed to the peace and well-being of his family. He has never raised a hand against his wife,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, colleagues from the Nollywood industry have rallied behind Daniels. Actress Ini Edo commented under the post, writing, “Every woman deserves peace of mind. Stay strong, Queen.” Fellow star Tonto Dikeh also weighed in, saying, “This is your liberation story — you’ve inspired many women to choose themselves.”
Fans have flooded her comment section with messages of solidarity, while others criticized her for taking private matters public. Social commentator Chude Jideonwo described the development as “a reflection of the growing conversation around power and control in celebrity marriages.”
Human rights lawyer Dr. Funmi Falana called for an investigation into the alleged abuse, stressing that “no woman, regardless of her fame or status, should endure domestic violence.”
The couple’s six-year marriage — long scrutinized for its 38-year age gap and polygamous structure — now faces its most public test yet.
As of Sunday evening, Regina Daniels had not issued a follow-up statement. But her symbolic declaration, coupled with the unveiling of her mansion, has ignited a national conversation about love, independence, and the cost of silence in Nigeria’s elite families.
