A UK court has jailed Obinwa Obichukwu, a 45‑year‑old Nigerian man, for sexually assaulting a woman twice at London’s Euston railway station after a British Transport Police investigation traced him through CCTV and witness accounts. Obichukwu, of Armstrong Close in Hertfordshire, was convicted in January of two counts of sexual assault and sentenced on July 21 at Inner London Crown Court.
The court imposed a 10‑year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ruled that he remain on the UK sex offenders register for the same period. Prosecutors said the assault happened on August 20, 2023, when Obichukwu approached the victim as she walked toward Euston station, asked what music she was listening to and put his arm around her shoulder while urging her to go home with him. As she continued along Euston Road, he repeatedly grabbed her hand and told her he loved her.
Investigators said he later blocked her from entering the station and sexually assaulted her at the entrance before fleeing. Police arrested him after reviewing station surveillance and gathering witness statements. The judge said the sentence reflected the seriousness of targeting a lone woman in a busy transport hub and the need to protect the public under the long‑term prevention order. Prosecutors noted the victim experienced significant distress, and police urged commuters to report suspicious behaviour immediately.
