ABUJA, Nigeria (FN) — Nigerian Sen. Ned Nwoko on Sunday publicly addressed a growing family dispute involving his wife, actress Regina Daniels, denying allegations of domestic abuse and accusing her relatives and close friends — including Nollywood actress Uche Montana — of enabling her drug addiction and obstructing her recovery.
In a statement, Nwoko said Regina’s brother, Samuel Daniels — known as Sammy West — had repeatedly harassed his children, domestic staff and security personnel, especially during the senator’s absence. He alleged that Regina’s family and inner circle disrupted her rehabilitation and contributed to the breakdown of their relationship.
“I have other wives, and none of them have ever accused me of domestic violence,” Nwoko said.
The senator claimed Regina had struggled with substance abuse, which led to violent outbursts and property damage. He said he offered rehabilitation options in Abuja and abroad, but those efforts were allegedly sabotaged by her mother, siblings, and friends — including actresses Sonia Uche and Uche Montana.
Nwoko accused the group of defying medical restrictions and “bringing her the same drugs she was being treated for,” according to a Facebook post cited by multiple news outlets.
Montana responded in a statement posted to Instagram, denying any involvement. “For clarity, I have no connection to the situation described,” she wrote. “This note is simply to set the record straight and protect my peace.”
Nwoko also disclosed that he had given Regina’s mother 125 million naira over two years, responding to claims that he neglected her family. He said he felt betrayed despite his financial and emotional support.
Legal experts have criticized Nwoko’s decision to share private videos online, questioning why he did not report the alleged drug activity to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
The marriage between Nwoko and Daniels, which began in 2019, has drawn public attention due to their age difference and celebrity status. The recent fallout has sparked widespread debate on social media and in entertainment circles.
Neither Regina Daniels nor her family has issued a formal response to the senator’s claims. AP has reached out to representatives for Daniels for comment.
