Nyesom Wike, Federal Capital Territory minister, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission. The decision was announced Wednesday by Commission Chairman Emeka Ezeh, in a statement released through the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
Ezeh said the promotions form part of activities marking President Bola Tinubu’s third‑year anniversary, during which the FCT commissioned and launched more than 30 projects between June 8 and July 17, 2026. He described the move as a clear demonstration of the administration’s commitment to staff welfare under the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The Commission said the large number of promotions reflects a broader effort to modernize Nigeria’s public service and align the FCT workforce with national administrative reforms.
According to the Commission, promotion examinations for senior officers were held from July 1 to 3, while junior staff took theirs on July 10. Officials said the exercise was designed to strengthen the FCT workforce and ensure career progression across agencies and departments, with expectations that the upgraded cadre will improve service delivery across the capital.
